Khalsa Way Prenatal Yoga is a magical mix of movement and meditation designed for mamas-to-be to tap into their intuition and strength as they prepare for labor and motherhood. The warm-ups tend to be the same each week, because the body is changing. Much like in puberty, during pregnancy growth doesn’t happen symmetrically. A large portion of the class includes somatic movement and time for participants to discover what creates ease in the body as well as taking note of what might feel supportive during labor. We conclude each class with a meditation, usually including a mantra. Each mantra carries a vibrational resonance that impacts the body on a cellular level. We’ll talk about how singing or chanting can positively impact the water of the body, how it can both calm and strengthen the nervous system, and how these tools can be useful during labor and parenthood.
Folks in first trimester tend to appreciate the slower pace and/or the encouragement to move mindfully; folks in their second trimester tend to appreciate the stretching and keep-ups; and folks in their third trimester (as they babies start sleep training you) tend to sink into the relaxation and meditations more deeply.
All stages of pregnancy welcome.
